Visit by B.P. Janardan Maharaj, December 9th 2006

Bhakti Pavan Janardan Maharaj comes to Salt Lake City,
bringing with him the bright sun and warm air from
California. The day he arrives it feels like spring has sprung
after the snowy blizzard we had last week, which left the
valley floor covered in about a foot of snow and the
mountains in about ten feet.
Bhakti Pavan Janardan Maharaj is greeted by the
enthusiastic and smiling devotees as he
begins his talk.
Janardan Maharaj gives a wonderful talk about Sukriti.
He explains that if we are fortunate enough to have good
Sukriti, then we will be fortunate enough to receive the
correct understanding from a bona-fide agent of Divinity.
That understanding culminates in the realization that the
highest nectar is Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's teachings,
coming through Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Maharaj.
It is not something that will come from us. How are we
to find the truth when our minds are still stuck on this
material plane? Rather, it is something that will be given
to us from above. For example, you may have received a
passport from the local authorities, but you still will not be
allowed into India without a visa. The visa must be given
to you from the authorities on the other side of the border.
You cannot force your way in. There is nothing you can do
to get that visa other than to try for it. Similarly, all we can
do is hanker, pray and desire to find the truth and to be able
to serve, but in the end, entrance into the higher plane will
be granted to us from above.
Ultimately everything is coming from Krishna, but if
we are sincere in our wanting to serve then Krsna
being as merciful as He is will put us into contact with
the true Sadhus, with His real devotees who will be able
to teach us properly.
We are like the blind, we are not able to properly see so we
must find a Guru to guide us correctly, but how are we to
know who to follow? That will be determined by our Sukriti,
it’ll come from above to us, all we can do is try to be sincere
in our prayers, and in our hankering for service. The only
price we have to pay is our sincerity and then the mercy will
come from above to guide us.
Subodh listening intently.
Kishori Didi came to listen to Janardan Maharaj despite
her very heavy school load because of final exams.
